How to Clean Your Wood Cabinets
Here are several different ways to clean wood cabinets. No matter how greasy, grimy, or dirty your cabinets are, there is a solution for your needs! I am going to tell you a couple different steps and products you can use to help with your cleaning needs. Most if not all, you can find in your house already. Which in the end makes not running to the store all that more fantastic!
1. Use Vinegar, Water, Spray Bottle, Soft Cloth, and Toothbrush
Vinegar can be used for just about anything! I use vinegar to help me clean my hardwood floors that I have throughout my house. If your wood cabinets are greasy, use a solution that is a 50/50 mix of warm water and vinegar. Once the solution is all mixed up, add it to a spray bottle. Spray the cabinets and let the solution sit for about two minutes. Use the soft cloth to wipe clean.
2. Vinegar, Water, Detergent, Toothbrush, Spray Bottle, and Soft Cloth
For extra dirty cabinets, add a little bit of the liquid dishwashing detergent to the solution. Get a toothbrush and dip it into the solution to help clean around the handles, trim, so forth and so on. Once all of the grim and greases is off, rinse with warm water. Afterward, use a soft cloth to help wipe off all of the water and remaining substance.
3. Vinegar, Salt, Toothbrush, Water, Baking Soda and Towel
Here is a solution you can use for all of those stains that you have that the top mixture will not take off. This is for chocolate, syrup, so forth and so stains. Create a paste from salt and vinegar. Get a toothbrush and dip it into the paste and then scrub the area where stains are. You do not want to rub too hard because you might scratch the wood up. After getting the stains, rinse the paste with some water and then use a towel to dry the area.
You can also use baking soda and a toothbrush to help scrub the stain if you do not want to use the other solution. Once you are finished cleaning the areas you want to wash, clean with warm water and dry off with a clean towel. You ought to do this a couple of times for the harder stains that do not want to come off.
Extra Tip
Once you are done cleaning your cabinets, there is a solution you can put on afterward that can help you protect your cabinets from later on stains. This will buff up your cabinets making them look like new since all of the stains have been removed. However, they will not look the new like “just from the store new,” but new enough to where you are happy with them and not have to spend money to replace.
Add vinegar and vegetable oil together 50/50. You can try to use a spray bottle; I am not sure if all of the mixtures will come out or not. Alternatively, you can get a clean cloth to help apply on the cabinets. Make sure you use lightly, and it is only on the enclosure surfaces. Use a new clean cloth to rub the mixture until the cabinets shine how you want them to shine.
